1 Timothy 6:20-21
20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— 21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.
Grace be with you. Amen.
Guard what has been entrusted to your care.
Guard and keep safe the deposit of godly truth entrusted to you.
Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith.
Turn away from worldly and godless chatter with its profane, empty words, and the contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge”— which some have professed and by doing so have erred, missed the mark and strayed from the faith.
1 Timothy 6:18-19
18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
The rich are to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous, and willing to share.
The rich are to do good, to be rich in good works, and to be generous, and willing to share with others.
In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
In this way storing up for themselves the enduring riches of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
1 Timothy 6:17
Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
Those who are rich in this present world are not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
The rich in this present world are not to be conceited and arrogant, nor to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
