2 Kings

2 Kings 18:6-8

6 For he held fast to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses. 7 The Lord was with him; he prospered wherever he went. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him. 8 He subdued the Philistines, as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city.



King Hezekiah held fast to the Lord and did not stop following Him.
King Hezekiah clung to the Lord. he did not turn away from faithfully following Him.

He kept the commands the Lord had given Moses.
He kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses.

And the Lord was with King Hezekiah. He was successful in whatever he undertook.
And the Lord was with King Hezekiah. He was successful wherever he went.

2 Kings 18:4-5

4 He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan. 5 He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him.



King Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel.
King Hezekiah trusted in and relied confidently on the Lord, the God of Israel.

There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after him.
After him there was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him.

2 Kings 13:20-21

20 Then Elisha died, and they buried him. And the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land in the spring of the year. 21 So it was, as they were burying a man, that suddenly they spied a band of raiders; and they put the man in the tomb of Elisha; and when the man was let down and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood on his feet.



They threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb.
They threw the man into Elisha’s grave.

When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.
But when the body of the man was being let down and touched the bones of Elisha he revived and stood up on his feet.
