1 Peter 2:24-25
24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Christ Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness.
Christ personally carried our sins in His body on the cross willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice, so that we might die to sin becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin and live for righteousness.
By His wounds we have been healed.
By His wounds we who believe have been healed.
We were like sheep going astray, but now we have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls.
We were continually wandering like so many sheep, but now we have come back to the Shepherd and Guardian of our souls.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
